Name: David Pribish on Jul 15, 2011Comments: The quality of our programs for children depends mostly on a trained competent teacher in the classroom. Research shows that teachers who have certificates and degrees specific to Early Childhood Education have better outcomes for children, which leads to higher levels of success for children as they move through the elementary system. T.E.AC.H. has emerged as an effective national strategy. Children are the main beneficiaries. They are able to bond with a provider who has made a commitment to the field, who is a specialist in early childhood education, who understands child development and who is sensitive to the needs of the very young including recognizing those children who have special needs. Please restore the funding to the T.E.A.C.H. Scholarship Program.Flag

Name: Amanda on Jul 15, 2011Comments: I cannot believe that funding for education is being cut. These scholarships and grants are what many people rely on to get through school. If they take away that then there will be less and less people furthering their education and all of America will suffer. The governor and other officials need to cut WASTEFUL TACTLESS spending. Stop spending our education money on new stadiums and new private cars. If they do not stop this there will be no one with the education or the knowledge to build those stadiums or cars.Flag

Name: Eileen Eccleston on Jul 15, 2011Comments: The TEACH Scholarships are crucial to ensure the improved quality of child care. The hardship being placed on child care providers to meet Keystone Stars standards and meet the needs of our community are overwhelming and virtually impossible without the support of programs such as TEACH. Early Childhood fields are low paying jobs, something that is unfathomable when you think about the most important jobs in our society. Without quality early childhood education and care, there is no hope for our society.Flag

Name: Stephanye K Madalion on Jul 15, 2011Comments: Don't cut the teach scholarship!! This is how I was able to attend school. I have my CDA certification and I am two classes away from my associate degree. This is how I as a single mother provide for myself and my two children who also attends the child care center where I currently work at. How can I finish my class to gain the knowledge and no how to be a better teacher for the children I work with.Flag

Name: Vera Rowland on Jul 15, 2011Comments: Governor Corbett, Please do not balance the budget on the backs of young children. I wish you could see the faces of the children when I am teaching them something new. I would not have had the knowledge to excercise my teaching skills without T.E.A.C.H. or any subsidized programs that help us further our education. Please reconsider your decision.Flag

Name: Brenda Finney on Jul 15, 2011Comments: TEACH has been and will continue to be a very important program for the education of young children,so that they may develop to their fullest potential from the valuable content gained by teachers to imlement into their classrooms and daily curriculum. Without it, children surely will lose out and fall behind. It is a very beneficial and worth while program to keep teachers currently up to date with the ever changing needs involving education in todays society. There will always be children and changes for the better, therefore there should always be TEACH to supply those needs!!! What could be more important than the future, that which is little children?Flag

Name: Dawn Schnorbus on Jul 15, 2011Comments: I have been waiting to hear back about my teach app. that I mailed out a few months ago. Today I found out that the program was cut, and I am so angry!!! I have been working in the feild of ECE for over 10 years and was hoping to further my education, so I would be able to provide for my family! I am a single mom who works two jobs, and recieves no child support from my ex husband. There is no way without this program I would be able to go back to school, and you took that away from me! How dare you! Sience I work I can't get much asstence for my children and now this! How can I become a better teacher for all the children in my care everyday, and be a parent who can care for her own children? I do this job for the passion I have for children, where is your passion? It's bad enough we don't get paid well in this feild that is so important. What do you plan on doing for the many of us who are going to be affected by this?Flag

Name: Virginia McHugh on Jul 15, 2011Comments: TEACH is the best idea PA has had in years. You need well-educated, high-quality programs with highly-qualified staff in order to bring out the best in each child. Educate them well at a young age and childen are much less likely to end up incarcerated, in juvile, or in low-paying jobs with low educational levels. I benefit greatly from my TEACH scholarship, I would hope others can do the same.Flag

Name: Janet Allen on Jul 15, 2011Comments: Please reconsider the budget for the TEACH program. I have worked in the Early Childhood field since 1989. I received my CDA credential in 1996. This is my passion; working with young children! I'm a single middle aged women who sees herself retiring in this field. But I cannot further my education without the help from TEACH. I cannot benefit the chidlren who are in my class without the proper education that is required. With the country in tough economic times and the pressure to make sure that no child be left behind, it all starts at the Early Childhood Level. So please make sure that "No Teacher" is left behind because you cut the funding for "T.E.A.C.H". Thank you for your time Janet AllenFlag

Name: Rosaria A. Polizzi-Lopez on Jul 15, 2011Comments: Many children in the state of PA are taught by Professionals with a degree. Many more are in centers where people are willing to pursue a degree in Early Childhood Education. The T.E.A.C. H. program is a win-win situation. The person who receives the scholarship has the ability and funds to pursue an education. The children who are lucky enough to be a student of the scholarship recipient are being taught by a professional.Flag
