Name: Janette Rosenbaum on Feb 12, 2010Comments: Many people are benefitting from the assistance provided by the TBI Fund. It allows them access to services they would not otherwise be able to afford, and those services make a real difference in their lives, and in the lives of the people who care for and about them. Please do not exclude individuals with acquired brain injury from this valuable assistance.Flag

Name: Ann Murray on Feb 12, 2010Comments: Acquired brain injury is not something someone acquires like a car or house. In an instant the lives of the person afflicted and his/her family change. For the last 5 years, NJ has had the foresight to provide funding through the TBI Fund to eligible survivors to pursue services to improve their lives. THEY ARE DEPENDING ON THIS FUNDING. I believe that the citizens of NJ are compassionate people who would not approve of this proposal. Hopefully, the Division of Disability Services will recind this proposal. If not, Gov Christie and our Legislators must veto this proposal.Flag

Name: Linda E. Gould on Feb 12, 2010Comments: It is imperative to help people who have traumatic brain injury and stroke get the assistance they need in improving their communication and socialization skills so that they can still feel that they are active members of our community. Please do not cut their funding or else many people who have these conditions will regress and not be able to afford the care and attention that they so urgently require.Flag

Name: Clare M. Fennell, MSCCC-SLP on Feb 13, 2010Comments: We, the undersigned, request that rather than institute the 2010 proposed changes to the TBI Fund, the Division of Disability advocate for a $ .50 increase in the vehicle registration surcharge. The state of NJ has successfully assisted over 2,100 people to live better lives, by permitting them access to services they would otherwise not be able to afford via insurance or private means. Don't stop now. Traumatic Brain Injury and stroke result in similar long-term effects requiring long-term interventions and supports. New Jersey has led the way in helping to ameliorate the lives of such individuals. Cut backs would be unnecessary if New Jerseyans paid an additional $ .50 a year. We can't afford not to.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Feb 13, 2010Comments: I had a stroke in 2002 and I have aphasia. My aphasia was initially severe and I have improved significantly. I have treatment in "Adler Center" in Maywood, Kean Language and Speech" in Union, and "Speaking of Aphasia" in Montclair. Those who have aphasia need one to speak up for those who can not speak or can not drive for themselves. Aphasia improves slowly. I support anything that can improve the TBI Fund. The TBI Fund should be increased, should not be reduced.Flag
