Comments: As an employee of Kessler working in the outpatient dept at West Orange Campus and handling letters from patients granted allocation of funds from the NJS DHHS under the NJ TBI Fund i see a plethora of incidents where a patient of ours has insurance but doesn't realize that the plan purchased does not give an adequate amount of visits needed to address the need for physicial or occupational and speech therapy to aid with the daily progress to get back to the activities of daily living after a stroke. We here at Kessler strive to give our patients the best care and when a patients insurance is exhausted and out of pocket funds are not there - the ability to provide them with this fund is the look of hope. Possibly another state dept could take the add'l .50 cents - for instance: the astromical amounts of money we make with the lottery why couldn't we take an add'l .50 cents from that dept. instead of NJDVR. However, if the only dept would be NJDVR then i would not mind the add'l .50 cents - Stokes should not be taken off the list as a requirement for aid but better strutiny under funding if the individual has SUBSTANTIAL assests should not be approved.

Comments: I urge you to consider a 50 cent increase in NJ vehicle registration fees to be designated to help people who have had strokes continue to receive the help they need to improve the quality of their lives. Life after a stroke is filled with many challenges and the TBI fund helped to provide support services to improve the physical and social recovery that would not have been possible without the TBI fund. The effects of a stroke are long term and life can be isolating without the continuation of support services and the social interaction necessary to thrive as a survivor of a traumatic brain injury.

Comments: As a boardmember of the Northern New Jersey Chapter of the American Heart Association, a son of a stroke victem and a hospital administrator treating patients with stroke, I strong urge recognition that a stroke is a serious brain injury that can devastate families. These patients and families need our support.

Comments: I believe the surcharge should be increased to $1.00/auto registration and services remain as they were. For many people this fund was a lifeline to services that would have otherwise been denied. Also, cobra continuation was a tremendous asset to these folks.

Comments: Rather than looking to exclude people from the TBI fund, NJ should find more people eligible for services under the fund, i.e. children who suffered traumatic brain injuries at birth, otherwise known as cerebral hemmoraghes, and are not eligible for assistance under the fund!

It is imperative that our adult citizens are provided with the same opportunity for supporting functional living skills as are our children. Nancy Z., Young

Comments: The quality of life has been improved for these stroke victims. Do not take away these services to these people who benefit so much from facilities where they can interact with other people and feel good about themselves. It would be terrible if these cut backs were instituted when a better solution is at hand. DO NOT LET THIS HAPPEN!!!!!!!

Comments: Stop and think what the outcome of proposed changes to the TBI Fund would do to so many people with Aphasia or stroke. Please think seriously about increasing a mere $.50 to vehicle registration. This day in time 50 cents is a drop in the bucket compared to helping others in need. Please STOP and THINK how your proposal will effect people in need!!!! Thank you

Comments: Given that motor vehicle accidents are a major cause of traumatic brain injury--and that anyone who is on our roads is at potential risk of being involved in such an accident--the 50 cent increase in the annual vehicle registration surcharge makes eminent good sense for all of us.
