This petition is to prompt IRS and congressional involvement in tax-exempt group's involvement in state and federal legislation. In recent years, a good majority of laws affecting the average person concerning animals have been pushed into legislation by animal rights groups such as PETA and the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS). Do not let the name fool you. The HSUS does not support shelters nor the type of work your local humane society performs on a daily basis. This group is very active in finding ways to get laws passed that effect tax payers. HSUS pays no state or federal taxes. Groups like this, by IRS code, have no legislative say or political input, but yet they are publicy involved. I am tired of special interest groups influencing legislation that effects me. I want it stopped. The HSUS takes in over 100 million dollars per year in charity donations, and, at this moment, spending it to contract lobbying firms such as in South Carolina to promote an increase in animal rights laws that are already misdemeanors. |

I am a pro-active individual that beleives in human rights over animal rights. I do not believe in mistreating animals, but I refuse to have a special interest charity dictate laws to me |
