Comments: I agree..I think the parent who has to pay child support, should be able to write off the amount they have paid for the year as a deduction on their taxes. As for claiming, it is based off how you did your divorce unless the laws in your state are different in that area. I divorced my x and I have to pay child support. However I get to claim my child on even years on my taxes and take the credit.

Comments: I feel like the child support enforcement agencies really take advantage of us paying fathers. Child support doesn't even take into consideration that you have other kids to support!

Comments: The system is very unfair to those non-custodial parents who are doing the right thing. Both parents should share in the benefits and drawbacks of being parents.

Comments: I feel the system that is use to caculate child support is bias toward tha non-custodial parent. Lets talk fairness. The non-custdial cost of living are not taken into play. when a child is created it took 50/50 to do so. So why doesn't that same equation in play when it come to deciding the amount. So I make more it is my desion to do more, not a madation. stand-up guys usally do more with out being mandated. That just cause resentment form the non-custodial parent. also if i'm paying for the up keep of my child, I should see where my money is going for that child. If I can see that the money is been spent for the up keep of that child, so many wouldn't object to pay. I wouldn't feel like its just me financing this child. where is the fairness when the child is with the non-custodial parent. Why isn't some of that money return. I pick up my children all the time, they spent a month with me during the summer, holidays, and weekends. yet I still have to pay my monthly obligation. It cost me to host my children, but yet the money that is soppose to maintain them is sent to the custodial parent. Where is the fairness in that. Child support is base on my AGI, but it is taken after tax with no benifit.I dont see the fairness in this. I feel that I'm getting the bad end of the deal. The cost should be split 50/50 not pro-rate according to one's income.

Comments: I can't afford to live in anything better than a boading house. My x just bought a new house with pool and a new truck. It's time us child support payers got a break. We are not all deadbeats! I pay $1875 a month for 3 kids. I can't even afford to pay my bills or pay a lawyer for bankruptsy!

Comments: YOU PEOPLE ARE NUTS.. I TOTALLY DISAGREE WITH YOU. YA THERE ARE DADS THAT PAY THEIR CHILD SUPPORT, BUT MOST CP DO NOT GET ENOUGH CHILD SUPPORT MONEY TO BEABLE TO PUT A ROOF OVER THE KIDS HEAD! I BELIEVE IN ALTERNATING IF THE AMOUNT THE CP AND NCP MADE ARE SIMILIAR. IF NOT NO YOU NCP SHOULD NOT BEABLE TO CLAIM THE CHILD AS A DEPENDENT. GET REAL!

Comments: I pay over $8,000 a year just in child support. That does not include the extra I have to pay out for medical bills, daycare, school expenses. And can I claim a dime of that....NOPE. Does my ex have to claim that money she receives as income...NOPE. The system need to change. I believe we allow parents who pay support to claim what is paid for a tax credit and more fathers or mothers will be more inclined to pay their support and take care of their children. It would also lessen the costs to the states for having to go after these dead-beat parents that dont pay. But they have it wrong in penalize those of us who do pay!

Comments: I feel this would be fair as a wife to someone who pays child support. It has always been much harder to live and support ourselves and our own children together when my husband paid child support. I don't deny his son deserves care from both parents, but how fair is it when what my husband pays in CS is more then what each of us in home would get if you divided up what was left after paying CS? When his son lived with us we were better able to provide for ourselves and our whole family without struggling, even when the mother refused to pay child support. My husband was able to actually do things with all his children and be able to afford it where before we had no money not only to do extra things with our children, but he also had no money to do things with his son when he was able to visit.

Comments: Please don't give up on this petition! Custodial parents are getting away with legal extortion and it needs to be STOPPED! I'm REALLY surprised that this hasn't been considered as a part of the president's recent tax credits. Really sad that Congress is afraid to thoroughly remodel the biased family court system as a whole, leaving all of the burdens & headaches upon the non-custodial parents.
