The petition
If your phone number starts with (07) 824 and you would like a wired broadband connection at home then read on.
Apparently, wired broadband is not available at your home. However, if you are prepared to pay lots of money you can get wireless broadband though this is too expensive for most of us and definitely not value for money.
The problem is that the Taupiri exchange is so old that it is not compatible with the modern broadband equipment Telecom has installed in many exchanges around the country. I have been told by a Telecom representative that upgrade of the Taupiri exchange is not even in the planning.
I am frustrated with my dial-up connection speed as lots of websites these days are designed to work with broadband. Downloading MP3 files and emailing digital photos is bad enough and so is Windows updates and Virus definition updates. Streaming video is impossible.
If you are as frustrated with the above as I am and you are prepared to sign up for a wired broadband deal then please sign this petition. I will collect all signed petitions and present them to Telecom.
"Dear Telecom, I live in the Taupiri district and I am very frustrated with not being able to obtain a wired broadband connection. Please invest a.s.a.p. in the Taupiri exchange so the people of the Taupiri district can join an affordable broadband connection. I for one am prepared to sign up for wired broadband as soon as it is available."
