The Archaeological Survey of India has announced a comprehensive conservation plan to address the damage we highlighted. This victory belongs to the 603 people who refused to accept the neglect of our heritage. Please keep a close eye on the site to ensure these repairs are actually completed.

The Archaeological Survey of India has failed to address the physical deterioration we are seeing on the temple walls. Please email your local representatives and demand they hold the agency accountable for this neglect.

my grandfather used to visit this place every year. it needs better care immediately before we lose the carvings forever
Tanjavur is incomplete without its soul. Protect the brihadisvara temple.
This is our history and our pride. Do not let it crumble because of neglect.
Heritage is priceless. Stop the destruction now.
the ASI should be ashamed of themselves for letting such a masterpiece deteriorate like this
I went to Big Temple last week. As there was a long queue for darshan, my eyes rolled on all the sides. I could see nailing on the walls, pipes inserted, and damages by human intervention to the heritage structure. With ardent devotion, under the leadership of King Rajaraja Cholan, million hands have worked day and night to create a mammoth structure for Lord Shiva. Few hundred reckless hands today have spoiled the austere and authenticity of this place of worship. And I am sure those urchins who have inscribed graffiti on the walls and pillars do not have a penny even to erect a brick structure. Hundreds of young police constables (men and women in uniform) stand under the scorching sunlight on the arterial roads of Chennai but unfortunately we do not have enough policing done on this great structure. A handful of lady constables are stationed which is not enough to guard the temple from the hands of vandalism.
sir please save our temple
