Take a Stand for Maryland Fooball
TAKE A STAND FOR MARYLAND FOOTBALL November 1, 2002 Dear Athletic Director Yow and Coach Friedgen: We are the most passionate of Maryland Football fans. We live for football gamedays in College Park. We want to make Byrd Stadium a great home environment for our Terps and a very tough place for our opponents to play. Over the last several years, we have become very frustrated when our attempts to stand and generate noise in support of our Terps from the crowd at Byrd have been met with the inevitable \"Sit down\" from spectators sitting behind us. Our attempts to cheer for our Terps have been repeatedly received with \"Be quiet,\" quizzical looks, and worst of all silence from evidently less enthusiastic spectators. We respect those spectators for supporting Maryland Football by purchasing tickets and attending the games, however we feel their lack of participation in the game and their silence in the stands detracts from making Byrd a great home environment, and it detracts from our enjoyment of the game.
