Name: Mrs Margaret Back on May 18, 2010Comments: I have sent an e-mail to the coucil voicing my objections to the revised parking permits. It seems they have no intention of changing their decision re the permit scheme. It is the residents of Swinley who will suffer, especially those who do not abuse the system. Most of us have relatives in the same area so visiting and picking children up from the schools will be in a different zone. I am totally against the new zones.Flag

Name: Jonathan Whittle on May 18, 2010Comments: I already feel the parking restrictions for resident are over the top. We should not have to pay for the permits. The revenue from tickets issued to non residents would more than cover any costs.Flag

Name: Dj Tarpey on May 18, 2010Comments: The permit system already causes major disruption in the area and combined with the ill-designed bike path markings, which only serve to narrow a busy mesnes road, has already led to difficulties with neighbours and casual visitors. The idea that bona fide businesses making deliveries, or carring out work on properties for residents, should be subject to fines only shows that the council is not seeking to serve the interests of the people of wigan but looking to bolster finances. I would also suggest that parking wardens should be given some training in the application of common sense, given some of the reasons they use to dish out notices to visitors who are displaying permits, i.e. ' it was upside down and I couldn't read it ' , even when everyone else could without difficulty. Are they on commission?Flag

Name: Barbara Keegan on May 19, 2010Comments: My issue isn't just around the new restrictions, but the price of the permits and the introductions of new daily permits. I still have anumber of the older type but not a full book - so there is no compensation for these. I bought them in good faith, I was not told they had a 'use by date' I do not believe we were given enough notice or as you say consulted on regarding the changesFlag

Name: Shirl E Andrews on May 19, 2010Comments: The proposed changes would not affect me personally but the chaos caused for so many will be unsurmountable - fact - and the beginning of what would undoubtedly lead to (more) serious incidents, serious accidents and eventual tragedy.Flag

Name: Lee Andrews on May 19, 2010Comments: This is more than ridiculous. I visit my sister in Swinley, what is so wrong with the current situation? Nothing-so why the change? As for Woodfield School.....well, when there's an accident then it'll be too late-there'll be plenty said and done once the worst has happened. The council needs to know of this petition-they need to know now.Flag

Name: Fran Edwards on May 19, 2010Comments: this new permit system is wrong we have about 6 spaces on walkden ave where i live for about 30 house the people who live near us have a drive but 2 cars and spaces are very limited as it is, this is a discrace bringing in so many areas, how can people complain about misuse of permits when parking is fine as it is in the swinley area, i see it as a way for the council to fine people for parking in the wrong area its all a money making schemeFlag

I have contacted the council before Christmas to complain, but they think it is quite reasonable for me not to have parking in my street!!!Flag

Name: Cyril Barnett on May 21, 2010Comments: This permit charge is very easy money for the council, and is probably why they have thought up this idea of splitting the area into four zones to gain more money from residents, so I suppose the wardens will be out in force in the area when it comes into effect to catch out those who have become used to just parking up to shop or visit a relative or friend.Flag

Name: Anonymous on May 21, 2010Comments: I live by the hospital and have a new baby and I'm being told now that I can't even park across the road if there are no spaces on my road. I therefore have to walk right past the hospital to the Bellingham if I can't park. What a joke this is. I've emailed Parking Services and surprise surprise no one has been in touch! This is just a money making scheme - nothing to do with 'helping' residents.Flag

Name: Mrs Rosalie Lydon on May 22, 2010Comments: My daughter and her baby live at Marylebone Place. It is very difficult to park there most of the time but in the evenings and dark nights of Winter it is almost impossible due to hospital visiting. Under the new parking regulations we would have to drive much further down Wigan Lane to find a spot to leave the car overnight. It was difficult enough before but at least we could park in Milton Grove - a mere five minute walk with baby and pram and shopping. Now it will involve a fifteen minute walk at least! Is there available parking at The Woodlands, Kingsmede or Bellingham Mount? Does anyone in the council consider the needs of residents who live in houses which do not have garages or drives?Flag

Name: John Lydon on May 22, 2010Comments: We have family and friends living in Marylebone and Mesnes Rd. Both now being in proposed different parking areas- necesitating different parking permits. The proposed changes are nothing more than a money spinning exercise and as such the council should be held to explain why these changes have been deemed necessary. I would like to voice my and my wife's, strong opposition to these changesFlag
