This petition is to raise awareness about the complete violation of human rights to workers in sweatshops. Do you know where the top you are wearing now came from? Nike? Another major retail brand? Well, they decided they would make it with cheap labour, by setting up a sweatshop in a country like Indonesia, where 85% of the workers are 15-25 year old women, getting no education, little or no pay and are verbally ad physically abused to make them work until their fingers bleed, all so we can say we got our top from some designer label? This is a horrible violation of Human Rights, and we hope by creating this petition, to raise awareness about this issue, because most people do not know about the issue, therefore are doing nothing to stop it. So, what are you signing to? You are simply signing to say you are against the use of cheap labour in sweatshops to manufacture clothes and other everyday items. Our goal is to get 100 signatures (or more!) by June 12th 2012, which is World Against Child Labour Day. We all need to take action in some way or another on this day, and as a citizen of this world, you will have done your part by singing this petition, because once 100 people know, if they tell 100 people, the world will spread and hopefully, one day, sweatshops will be eradicated and these workers will have the rights we have. So, sign and do your part for June 12 2012, World Against Child Labour Day.
