By electronically signing this petition, we show our support for the construction of one of the as yet undesignated elementary schools to be in SW Austin. We feel it is vitally important to the success of the students of Clayton Elementary that the school receive relief for projected overcrowding. Details: On Monday, January 14th, the AISD school board is deciding the allocation of two undesignated new elementary schools that were funded with the 2004 bond issue. A recommendation was made by an advisory board that one of the new elementary schools be built in Southwest Austin. This school would likely be located in the Meridian section of Circle C and would provide direct relief to the student population of Clayton. The current projections for enrollment at Clayton for the 2009-2010 school year is approximately 1100 students, and by 2012 we are projected to have over 1500 students! (Clayton\'s capacity is 850.) It is vital that we show our support and opinions regarding having a new elementary school built in our area, since the Board is still reviewing relief school locations for AISD and no decision has been rendered. What can you do -Attend the AISD board meeting and get involved-you do not have to speak-your presence is a strong show of support. This item is up for discussion next Monday, January 14th. -Sign this petition generated by Clayton community members to indicate your opinion regarding a new school. Distribute to anyone in Austin, especially the southwest area.
