Comments: Many anglers cut their teeth on this notorious landmark, for visiting anglers that boost the Swansea Tourism economy. Anglers from Ireland had purchased licenses to fish this mark as well as locals. Record Catches by anglers on most species from cod 38lb and conger 36lb to bass 11lb have been caught here. Swansea Dockers club held Angling competitions here of which proceeds went to the children

Comments: I would really like to see this pier open as i'm a passionate angler and my 2 boys have started to show an interest in this great sport and they are limited where they can fish as to access to deep water and i'm sure it is far more safe for them to fish off the pier rarther than some of the slippery rocks where i fish from. Regards Martin

Comments: Please consider re-opening the East Pier and Breakwater back up, i fished there every week as a child, and found it safe and easily accessible for people of all abilities, Caught a 7lb and 8lb Bass off there on 2 separate occasions when people said they been there all night and not caught anything. Also there used to be nice big plaice caught off the breakwater. Come on give us our fishing back. Adrian Lewis (radiokaos-WSF)

Comments: This rot has to stop! Everyone has the right to fish and too many venues are getting closed down with flimsy excuses. Next thing you know people wonder why youngsters complain there is nothing to do and resort to vandalism etc. Fishing venues are a public amenity and should be kept that way

Comments: Anything that encourages youngsters away from the various boxes they seem to spend their lives in front of has to be good, fishing is one of those things, a venue like the East Pier can only encourage people to enjoy the sport. Should be opened ASAP

Comments: Well every signature helps in any matter, whether local authorities get off thier backsides and do anything about it that is another matter. But as a fellow angler who is one to protest the ruling of any sea fishing license that may be forced upon us, it is our duty to ensure that people with the power do not get the say in the decline of our great national sport, but we anglers have the right to defend our birthright. They wouldn't close a football stadium down just because the home team were no good, no they would sink more money into it to improve their chances of sucess, so there is no excuse for any one to say that if a pier was built and requires maintenance, oh just knock it down. What about walkers, ramblers, holidaymakers, elderly that grew up in the area and what about fishing! Who ever listens or reads this i am not getting political but sadened by this countries ability to give so much then take a lot more at the cost of the tax payer.

Comments: The re-opening of Swansea east pier should seriouly be considered by the council and ports association. This is a relatively safe place to fish when considering many fishermen wander down south gower and fish many cliff and cove marks. Fishing is a growing sport and every effort should be made to encourage its growth and protect its future as a sport in the area.
