Wicksteed Park have started work on the restoration of the lake although no decision has been made on their planning application KET/2012/0183. Destruction of the sluice has allowed water and silt to flow out into the River Ise and two families of mute swans are stranded. Cygnets unable to fly and still dependent on the family unit for survival are trying to move around in the silt and no longer have any aquatic vegetation to eat; it is also difficult for them to get out over the lake walls on to the adjacent grass. Not being able to fly leaves them an easy target for predation. Please sign this petition to express your concerns over Wicksteed Park's treatment of local wildlife.
