During the Civic election in November 2005, Dianne Watts, now mayor of Surrey stated: \"I will bring back the annual re-use weekend and manage the problems in a more efficient manner.\" To date her election promise of bringing back the re-use weekend has been just another empty election campaign promise. The Surrey Contracts and Solid Wastes Manager has said there is no plans to bring it back. The Re-Use weekend was an annual event were citizens could place items on the curb that were a) too large for regular pick up or b) re-useable. It was a great community event that encouraged re-using and recycling - instead of filling the already over flowing landfills. Children and Adults both enjoyed this tradition. Tell Mayor Watts that you support bringing back the re-use weekend. I will forward this petition to the mayor.

Wendy Smith, Canada3 years ago Comments: Love the Spring clean up and it helps a lot of people that are going through ruff times and can't afford alot off things they need. Please find a way to bring it back.I am sure alot of people would be very grateful. Thank you for your time.
Anita McBean, Canada7 years ago Comments: It is silly that a few people that ruined Spring clean-up are consitered over the recycle of thousands of items that go to our landfills.Get a grip!
