16 steven zikopouloscanada's abuse of its poorest and most vulnerable people (whether they are from Tyendinaga, Ipperwash, Newfoundland or living on the streets of Ottawa or Toronto) has a long and embarrassing history. Shawn Brant has been snared by an old Canadian default position being: Canadians have the right of free speech, human/civil rights and dignity and to live free of discrimination--until one tries to exercise those rights in a strong and effective manner. Shawn Brant should be cleared of all charges and released.

19 RedHawk FeatherColonialism is alive in Canada Colonialism is a socio-economic reality, a manifestation of power, a system claiming sovereignty and domination over another using legalism to legitimize its crime, capitalizing, monopolizing global zing, corporatizing its theft of our lands, diverting our waters, mutating our fish, terminating our people, relocating our communities, silencing our drums, our traditions, our survivance and interrupting our Indian Time. It expresses it greed to feed by placing values and almighty beliefs upon capitalist intentions, in self righteousness and self proclaimed rights and responsibility to re-socialize the child while raping our Mother, the Earth, taking without asking, without regard. Colonialism is incompatible in its philosophical traditions, its monarch and majesty, its pomp and prestige, its chivalry and ceremonies subjectifying our souls upon its linear laws and barbaric beliefs… Colonialism is alive in Canada taken from my website .... http://www.geocities.com/anti_fnga2003/

21 Tara KainerGiven their tragic history, First Nation peoples have been remarkably patient with Canada and Canadians in their struggles to maintain their culture and retain control over their land. They have tried every reasonable recourse without success. It is now up to the Government of Canada to fulfil its moral and legal obligations to ensure that the rights of First Nations peoples are protected.

41 Jason KuninFor a man not being charged with a violent offense to be denied bail brings shame upon our justice system and makes us look like a Banana republic. Shawn Brant is not criminal; he is a political prisoner. Free him now.

45 William GunnIt is an affront to natural justice that Sean Brant is being held in jail for standing up for the rights of indigenous peoples.

49 Martin KaneI believe after the genocide of 15,000,000 of The First Nation people , breaking all treaties made by Colonial Governments, in the USA,Canada and Mexico ,their Soverinity should be protected. To continue the opression, rapeing of their land for your wealth , not theirs , is reprehensible.
