Due to the financial conditions that UC Santa Barbara's Associated Students is facing right now, they have proposed to consolidate The Bottom Line newspaper as part of their plan to save money. However, this could potentially mean making us a quarterly magazine and cutting our honoraria payments for our hardworking editors and managers. Please show your support for The Bottom Line and help us let AS know that we are an organization on campus that is worth promoting. We've worked extremely hard over the past five years to become a weekly newspaper, so becoming a quarterly magazine would erase all of the effort we've invested. Here is our mission statement, as taken from our website: The Bottom Line is a growing weekly newspaper sponsored by the Associated Students of the University of California, Santa Barbara. Created in early 2007 in response to concerns there should be another newspaper on campus, TBL provides a printed and online space for investigative journalism, culturally and socially aware commentary, and engaging reporting that addresses the diverse concerns of its readership, including UCSB and its surrounding community.
