Comments: As a retired priest I have offered to assist and serve at the Cathedral the past 10 years. It is my spiritual home. I see the Cathedral as a lamp of home in this Diocese and for the city of San Diego. We are blessed with a wonderful location but it limits us the way it is presently utilized. We need the Master Plan and the plan needs to upgrade its plan to include more environmentally inviting aspects to sell our project to the caring secular community. We need to position ourselves as fore runners of addressing the concerns of our neighbors in ways that they will understand that we have a unique plan and offering for the space we of which we are stewards. Hopefully, we are not just interested in a couple more high rise condominium buildings like those already built and being built in our area.

Comments: The publicity re:the Master Plan for the Cathedral is short-sighted, leaving out an important aspect that, if included, would relieve some of the anxiety and concern in the neighborhood. We need to be willing to invest in the additional efforts to address the environment that we are occupying. Let our plan speak not only of the "extra parking spaces" and accommodations" and very loosely the "affordable housing", but also of an intentional investment inf natural air shafts which will circulate cool are from the roof areas, use of solar power and other energy saving devices. Increasingly, "Green is the thing", and the Cathedral needs to make use of this opportunity which will eventually pay for itself. We do not want to be known as just another business venture occupying the space, but as good stewards and concerned citizens willing to go the extra mile to address environmental concerns. For a lot of people, stating that out front, honestly and "out front" would be for a lot of folks our best selling point. We are not taking something from the Balboa Park area, we want to be understood as contributing to the area. "Green is the thing," so let's make the most of it!

Comments: We need to develop the Banker Hill area for the whole community. Not the few who oppose this vision. I'm a member if St. Paul's and support it 100% even though I live in the University Heights area of San Diego

Comments: I am a retired prist and have served the past 10 years at St. Paul's. It is my spiritual home, a lamp to the Diocese, and to the rest of the community. I was deeply moved by the presentation of the developers of the Master Plan on 3/31/07. These people demonstrated commitment and a wonderful spirit of team work. They are listeners and we are blessed. I was particularly impressed by their inclusion of enviromentally focused ideas and are aware of the stewardship we have to make the best use of the space we have near the park. I would hope that the Cathedral's publicity about the Master Plan would include information about how this plan supports enviromental attention much more than the current web site does. We are t interested in more than building a couple more "mid-rise" condominums for high income residents, parking spaces and Cathedral administrative areas. We want to witness that we will go the extra mile to address environmental concerns. We want to be understood as contributing to the Balboa Park area, not take away from it.. "Green is the thing," so let's make the most of it. (Please delete "comment 5 and 6" with the above comments.)
