We need community support to sign our petition before September 15, 2009 which is when we will be attending the Stafford County Public Hearing encouraging Stafford Supervisors to vote in favor of these plans. The Stafford SPCA proposes to establish and operate a full service animal shelter located at 140 Andrew Chapel Road. Our plans call for local homeless animal support including, a veterinary clinic that will offer free or low cost services on a non-profit basis, animal intake, animal adoption, and temporary shelter for dogs, cats, kittens, ferrets, and birds. In addition, the SPCA will allow for Stafford to have a public Dog Park and a memorial garden, walking paths and picnic areas. This 10.172-acre parcel has sufficient existing landscaping to provide adequate buffering for the existing neighbors, and this use would be compatible with the A-1 neighborhood. The Stafford County Animal Shelter is currently forced to destroy many animals (approx. 1,200/year) because of lack of resources, including having to destroy many animals upon initial intake because of lack of capacity. The proposed SPCA will be able to provide a community service that relieves that work load on the County's Animal Shelter. Thank you SO much for your time and support and please forward this on to everyone you know!
