Comments: Learning a foreign language will be beneficial to our students. When their peers at other countries all study foreign languages, why our children only speak one language.

Comments: Keep foreign language in the current schools and please expand to others! As a public school parent, I'd gladly pay for my child to have a foreign language class. We came from an immersion school almost a year ago and she has all but forgotten everything. I'm shocked that Fairfax County seems "lax" about the importance of foreign languages that are rapidly becoming less foreign.

Comments: My daughter just finished Kindergarten at Fairview Elementary. We were so excited when she was accepted into the French foreign language partial immersion program at Herndon Elementary School for next year! The commute from Burke to Herndon will be arduous, but we are so thankful for the opportunity to provide her with this beneficial (and in our minds, essential) addition to her curriculum, I wish more schools offered this program (all schools would be ideal) but we know funding is a constant struggle in educating our children. Our family believes strongly in the need for this program to continue and expand so that all students can participate. Thank you for advocating for this important issue in our shrinking world!

Comments: Why do we insist that high school students take foreign languages when the kids who could learn the easiest are elementary school kids? And why do only a few students get the opportunity to learn in immersion programs when we all pay the same taxes? It is ridiculous!
