Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union signed on the 7th of December 2000, guaranteed that every citizen or resident in the European territories has the right of freedom, security and freedom of movement. The charter banned exiling or extraditing any individual to any state where their life could be endangered. It is also prohibited in case it exposes that individual to death penalty, torture or humiliating and inhumane treatment.
In this instance, Ukrainian resident Dirar Abu Sisi, 43, of a Palestinian origin and married to an Ukrainian citizen named Veronica Abu Sisi; was kidnapped and secretly sent to the occupying state of Israel when he was travelling on the 18th of February 2011 between the Ukrainian cities of Kharkov and Kiev.
Since then, he is isolated in Israeli jails under extreme health and psychological circumstances. This in addition to torture, humiliation and inhuman treatment he is exposed to. Israeli occupation authorities prevent his wife and children who are Ukrainian citizens to visit or at least speak to him.
Undoubtedly, the life of Abu Sisi is endangered due to isolation; torture and arbitrary imprisonment adds to this the inhuman treatment he faces. Abu Sisi has an Electrical engineering PhD degree and he works within his area of specialisation. He didn’t commit any illegal acts in Europe or elsewhere.
In light of the Ukrainian government and European Union silence on this issue where Israel has violated the sovereignty of a European state and kidnapped Dirar Abu Sisi. And in the shadow of Ukrainian/European discrimination to protect him; Israel thus is torturing Abu Sisi both physically and physiologically and continues to isolate and imprison him arbitrary and contrary to the law.
Based on the above facts, we the undersigned, announce our solidarity with Ukrainian resident and detainee, Driar Abu Sisi, who is in solitary confinement in the occupying state of Israel. We therefore, express our deep support and sympathy to his wife, children and family and call on the following:
