Allow DECA stores at Encinal & Alameda High School

DECA is completely underfunded at Encinal High School. It is a student based club and is the ONLY educational club which provides career opportunities and experiences. In previous years, DECA hasn't really been taken seriously but the past year we achieved success at competitions, gaining knowledge and work experience for DECA members. We have worked hard for what we want and strive EVERY SINGLE DAY in order to keep the opportunity alive however recently we have ran into a fork in the road. We had been running a student based store, "The Jet Hangar" at Encinal High School and I know that at Alameda High School there was a store as well. Recently the School District has decided to shut stores at both locations. Apparently we are "taking money away from the cafeteria". We make approx. 2% of what they make in a year and we believe that to be completely selfish. Not only is this a disappointment all around, but it is going to be a HUGE hindrance on our finances. The products from the store get purchased by the teachers of DECA, NOT THE SCHOOL DISTRICT. That is money out of their pockets. The profited moneys go towards club fees which can result in about $15,000 for a year. We ask that you sign this petition, so that we can get the store back up and running. Thank you in advance for your support. Jazz Aguon DECA Secretary- Encinal High School
