SUPPORT THE ACTION OF VENERABLE BAGDRO!

Venerable Bagdro is a Tibetan buddhist monk and former political prisoner. He has spend three years in a Chinese prison because of his participation in a peaceful protest in Lhasa, the capital of Tibet. In prison he was treated inhumanly, he was tortured very badly and suffered from starvation. He is one of the leading voices in the non violent resistance movement for a Tibet free of Chinese oppression. Venerable Bagdro travels all around the world to testify and has written several books, including "A hell on earth" and "Tibet, a prison of China".

During his visit to Belgium in June 2009, Venerable Bagdro took the opportunity to write a letter to the International Court of Justice in The Hague, in The Netherlands. In this letter he wanted to bring the inhuman living conditions of the Tibetan and Chinese people in Tibet and the repression in the attention again. He asks the judges of the Court to investigate the dictatorship of the Chinese regime and the massive violations of human rights, and to take action against four leaders of the Chinese regime: 1. President Hu Jintao of the People's Republic of China 2. the former President Jiang Zemin (President of the PR of China from 1993 to 2003; he was also the Chairman of the Central Military Commission from 1989 to 2004) 3. the former Prime Minister Li Peng (who was Prime Minister at the time of the Tiananmen massacre in 1989) 4. the Chinese governor in Lhasa Zhang Qingli (who has proclaimed in a speech last year that the mass protests in Tibet were a very good opportunity to train the Chinese army, to fight and kill the Tibetans as a military training).

In May 2008 Venerable Bagdro has started a process in the Spanish Court against these four dictators. Bagdro asks the International Court to sue Hu Jintao, Jiang Zemin, Li Peng and Zhang Qingli for genocide.

During more than 50 years of Chinese illegal occupation of Tibet already more than 1 million Tibetans were killed. The repression in Tibet nowadays was never so strong. With the protests in Tibet since March 2008 more and more Tibetans are detained in prison. Now there are more than 6.000 Tibetans in jail. The number of executions has also increased. In one year more than 200 Tibetans were killed and more than 1.000 are still missing.

Venerable Bagdro is planning a massive protest in front of the International Court in The Hague if there is no answer to his letter within months. Bagdro calls upon all Tibetans and all Tibet Support Groups in the world, ngo's, human rights organisations and human rights activists, pacifists, dharmacenters, political parties, citizens etc. to support this action. "United Nations for a Free Tibet", a worldwide organisation with board members all over the world, ask you to support Bagdro. The more this action is made public, the more impact it might have. The more this action is supported worldwide the bigger chance for pressure on China. That's the real meaning of Bagdro's action. This action is important because the dialogue between the representatives of H.H. the Dalai Lama and the Chinese government has stopped after eight rounds of discussion. And there is still no solution.

Please sign this petition to express your support to this action of Venerable Bagdro. For organisations, please use the name of your organisation to sign. We will inform you about the massive protest in front of the International Court in The Hague. Thanks on behalf of Venerable Bagdro.
