To whom it may concern,
We, the undersigned students, parents of students, faculty and graduates of San Marin High School, and community members wish to recognize the outstanding leadership of Ms. Loeta Andersen, principal of San Marin High School. Ms. Andersen has created an atmosphere of respect and tolerance for students and adults and has been an enthusiastic supporter for all types of student activities.
When Ms. Andersen took over the leadership of San Marin she inherited a campus which had experienced upheaval and discord. She has worked tirelessly to instill order and a sense of pride where little existed; she has also diligently tried to find the best teachers to replace those who left, even to the extent of teaching classes herself. She attends sports events, music and theatre performances, community activities where her students are involved – everything from Christmas tree recycling to Friday night cross-country meets hours away from the school.
Ms. Andersen has been instrumental in a remarkable change in attitude at San Marin High School; when she arrived in 2002 there were undercurrents and factions that detracted from the scholastic environment. Standardized test scores have risen, advanced placement classes have been added to the schedule, attendance has improved and San Marin graduates continue to be accepted at prestigious universities. There are no longer rumors of freshman hazing, students skipping classes or intolerance for students who have different interests. San Marin High School is on an upswing and the students are thriving.
This improvement in the morale of the campus is noticeable to the students as well as to their parents. We would like to give a strong vote of confidence to Ms. Andersen and want to thank the NUSD School Board and the Superintendent for their continuing support of this outstanding principal. |
