Name: Paula White on Feb 24, 2010Comments: Albemarle County is currently seen as one of the best school systems in the USA and even recognized by educators around the world. We have been striving to become a world class school system and are well on our way. With the budget shortfall from state and federal monies, we will definitely go backwards if our local leaders do not step up to the plate. Please, Board of Supervisors, fully fund Albemarle County Schools.Flag

Name: Nancy Paulson on Feb 24, 2010Comments: The prosperity and growth of Albemarle County is directly tied to the strength of our school system. Our schools not only educate our children, they fuel the desirability to live here for both employers and employees. Families are the drivers of the local economy -- they pay an huge amount of our county's property and sales tax and invest in our housing market. It is well known that localities with underfunded and weak school districts have stagnant economies and depreciating property values. It may be unfortunate that the budget decisions at the state level and the current economic enviroment have left such a funding void to fill. However, we as a community must band together and raise the taxes necessary to sustain our schools and vital county services. We must raise the tax rate the fund the proposed School budget!!!Flag
