Name: Hanadi Al-Samman on Feb 23, 2010Comments: Please consider saving our school system even if you have to raise property taxes to generate funds. The extra tax per household is nominal compared to the tremendous loss for our kids education, and their future. Thank you, Hanadi Al-SammanFlag

Name: Dirk Servine on Feb 23, 2010Comments: I feel that beyond public safety, public education is the number one priority of local and state government for a number of reasons: 1. Educating the next generation is vital to our counties long term success. 2. Exceptional Public Schools increase real estate values which in turn increase tax revenue. 3. Exceptional Public Schools make the local economy more competitive and generate additional local jobs, in turn increasing tax revenue. 4. Exceptional Public Schools bring our community together through civic and other activities which provide interface between those with and without children in these schools. This improves the local quality of life and makes Albemarle County a more desirable place to live. This increases property values which increase tax revenue.Flag

Name: Ian Sole on Feb 23, 2010Comments: In times like these we, as parents, as adults and you as community leaders have an even greater responsibility to protect our children and our children's future. I fully recognize we are in a deep and difficult recession, and many of our citizens are struggling, but we also remain a wealthy county, ranking 8th within the state for per capita household income, yet 44th in our tax rate. Nobody, including myself likes to pay additional taxes, but if it is a choice between paying more tax and not supporting our childrens education for their sake, and for our own long term future as a community and indeed as a country, the decision should be easy. We - YOU must fully fund the School Superintendants budget request. To do otherwise would be to irresponsible and a betrayal to the 12,450 students who depend on you for the right decision. Thanks you for listeningFlag

But since the budget crisis, the schools are no longer top notch and families who once moved here, are now moving away. This has caused property value to decline and now Albemarle County is in worse shape with no hope in sight." Our reputation for fantastic schools is what keeps our Community great!Flag

Name: Carrie Shuler on Feb 23, 2010Comments: As a parent of two children with special needs in Albemarle County public schools, you can understand why funding is a critical matter in our house. We have been BLESSED with incredible teachers, TA's, speech pathologists and occupational therapists in ACS's. Our children are doing remarkably well thanks to our school division and we hope these services (and ALL services), will continue to happen. Please make funding a priority for our district. Thank you.Flag

My husband is a partner at a firm that now, 5 years later, provides local jobs and much financial support to local charities in Charlottesville. Healthy schools build strong communities!!!Flag
