Lisa OngAs a properous and progressive nation, we should have the intelligence and resources to approach our stray animal "problem" in a way that is befitting of our image as an enlightened nation. If countries like Taiwan could shut down part of its highway to faciliate the yearly migration of butterflies, it is not a big challenge for Singapore to restart its Stray Cat Rehabilitation Scheme to handle stray cats in a humane manner. Mass culling at the slightest complaint smacks of an unthinking and callous response to other life forms. It is nearly impossible to teach our young compassion and kindness when adults in our midst practise wanton killing.
Lorietta PurpuraPlease reinstate the Stray Cat Rehabilitation Scheme. They want to live as much as we do. The gvernment keep telling us to e kind to animals but they are doing the exact opposite when they do not support the scheme. It sickens me to see what a cruel societ Singapore is turning into! Humans arry more deseases than stray animals so should we put them down? GOD BLESS THE ANIMALS WHO RESIDES IN SINGAPORE!
AnonymousI strongly support the SCRS.

Jane ChooAnimals are created by God just like each of us so what gives us the right to take lives as a convenient way of solving a problem? What sort of society chooses killing over nurturing and educating?
AnonymousI strongly support the action.Cats also living things. All stray animals are innocent as it is not their will to being stray. Removing them is the same as killing a life. Animal is also a life. A life is a life .no different as killer.

Tim* Sipp*l* (Finland, Australia)As a former Singapore expat and still a big admirer of Singapore and its' people, and as a proud owner of a few adopted Singaporean stray cats, I would be extremely delighted seeing Singapore going back to more humane and compassionate policy towards stray cats. I think current culling in unnecessary and unfortunate stain in Singapore's international image.
Catherine EawThis quote by the great Mahatma Gandhi speaks volume on the aim of our petition. “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated”
Gail NgiamFully support. A truly developed and progressive society is demostrated through the way they treat the animals.

Raymond PoonI believe one of the measures of how civilised a society is has to do with how the society treats the non-human inhabitants that share a living space with it.

AnonymousEven from my years of experience having worked for stray cats sterilization in Japan and Singapore as a volunteer, the SCRS is the most effective and humane solution with less costly result in a long term viewpoint. Please restart the scheme. And I believe that we, the heartlanders in Singapore with caring mind for society will get more motivated by the support from our nation leaders.

amuthaI support this petition 100%. Animals too have the right to live than some cruel human beings.
Helga GampIt's humane and it works, is cost-effective and benefits everyone...
Anonymouscat feeder beware, please place back the cat(s) back to the original place where found AFTER STERILIASATION. Or if in any case of adoption, please refer to the owner or feeder. i have faced few problems where feeder do charity on the steriliasation refuse to place back the cat where it belongs and doesnt not wish to clarify where it has been taken to. At the end, MISUNDERSTANDING OCCURS.

AnonymousIf only everyone just practise a little tolerance and spare these innocent and lovable creatures . They deserve to live as much as any human being ! Can I say I find the children in Singapore irritating , noisy and causing a nuisance of themselves at times and I want them locked up or culled ??! Have to be fair ! These children belong to parents , and those stray cats also BELONG to the hearts of cat lovers !!

Anthony KehCats have been an integral part of Singapore's heritage & history. We were named after the giant cat to start with. In a country that emphasizes so much on the Merlion & the Lion city & the Tiger that flies, we mustnt forget that the simple, humble cat is the only remaining reminder of our heritage - geographical & cultural. So please save them - why not turn them into tourist points of attraction, rather then wiping them off in notoriety.

karen leeinstead of using e money to employ pest control which doesn't improve e situation, why not put e money in good use, make e public understand responsible ownership, don,t abandone pets, proper feeding, and STERILISE them. its very stupid to remove e scheme in e first place!
Cats' AngelI wish to do more for the stray cats and hope to get the co-operation of the public to stop abuse and care for animals. I also hope that cat-feeders in the neighbourhood to be more cooperative & understanding with one and another, for the better welfare of the cats.
