Support Wisconsin's District Attorneys
The state of Wisconsin is projecting an estimated $200-million surplus in the current fiscal year. The signers of this petition ask that ten percent (10 %), or $20-million of Wisconsin’s projected $200-million surplus, be set aside and allocated to district attorney’s offices statewide, proportionate to population served, for the purpose of hiring additional assistant district attorneys, paralegals, and other support staff needed to prosecute public criminal cases.
And, the signers of this petition demand that this be done without raising state or local taxes; and without laying off, terminating, or furloughing additional state employees; and that this new level of public prosecutor funding be maintained for the next four years.
