Support the Richard King Library
Due to budget cuts, the King library staff will be reduced to two librarians. For a school the size of King High School (2500), understaffing the library would have disastrous results that would adversely affect the learning environment of our students. With increasing demands by the state to raise standards and put rigor into our curriculum, the last area that should face budget cuts is the library. The librarians provide a very valuable service that goes beyond what most understand as the traditional roles of maintaining a library. Our three librarians also oversee the computers, the computer labs, check out audio/video equipment, monitor students who use the library, and serve as a resource to the teachers. At no time during the day is the library not in use. Most schools the size of King High School have at least three librarians. By signing this petition you help to support and recognize the valuable, irreplaceable service our three librarians provide.
