We, as either residents of the Greater Indianapolis area, specifically; or as supporters of the classical symphony orchestra model being relevant to contemporary American society, generally; agree with the following statements and concerns regarding the value and hopeful long-term success of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra:

1) The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra offers a product of immeasurable importance to people of all ages, ethnicities, and demographics.

2) The severity of reductions proposed (see http://www.isomusicians.com/ for specific details) will greatly increase the risk of artistic deterioration of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, should they be executed.

3) A good-faith effort should be made by ISO management to provide transparency to the community as to why attempts by the musicians to bring in a respected and established facilitator were rejected, and why, in general, such a severe course of action has been determined to be in the best interest of the orchestra and the city of Indianapolis.

4) It is understood that business models need always be objectively analyzed in today's economic climate.  However, as currently proposed, the extreme restructuring of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra may be irreversibly detrimental to the artistic product of said orchestra, and, therefore, ultimately detrimental to the cultural and economic vitality of Indianapolis, ironically at a time that it has officially expressed desire to compete with larger cities in the United States as an appealing destination.
