Name: Len Van Roon on Jun 1, 2010Comments: Over 20 million in active transportation funding SHOULD create momentum to assist in alternative active transportation AND to lighten traffic loads and make MORE room for cars... on the existing infrastructure. Don't blow the positive momentum by canceling a key traffic route along Sherbrooke from 7 am until 7:30 am to a key nodal point at the Health Sciences Centre. If you do, me and some of my quite conservative friends are just going to go out in traffic anyway at a later time and block things up good... not to be obstructionist... but to assert a cooperative approach for safe cycling. PLease count me in in support of active transporation... especially along Sherbrook St... Len VAn RoonFlag

Name: Kristy on Jun 1, 2010Comments: Active transportation is an integral part of a healthy community and must be promoted in Winnipeg with the construction of new bike lanes. It is unfortunate that City Hall has not yet realized the challenges of cycling around our city and has not done more to ease the dangers cyclists face while commuting within the city.Flag

Name: Colin Wolfe on Jun 1, 2010Comments: Please support this bike lane connection to the network. Winnipeg's lack of vision and considerable lag in active transportation infrastructure WILL begin to be addressed, but only if this network is implemented IN FULL. It is critical to link paths and networks together to ensure their effectiveness. Thank you, and please support the lanes on SherbrookFlag

Name: Lynn McLean on Jun 1, 2010Comments: Many families, individuals, and children in this neighbourhood rely on bicycles for their main mode of transportation. A bicycle lane in the section between Ellice and Cumberland is essential to a safer roadway for the cyclists, pedestrians, automobile and emergency vehicle drivers and passengers who share this roadway. It would be a step backward to remove this section from the AT network. Please vote against the bill which would remove this section of Sherbrook St. from Ellice to Cumberland.Flag

Name: Stephen Diakow on Jun 2, 2010Comments: I think it would be a great loss to abandon this section of the active transportation lane, a move that may very well result in preventable collisions & even deaths. A viable solution to this phase of the project can be found.Flag

Name: Amelia LaTouche on Jun 2, 2010Comments: Making the downtown accessible by bikes is another way we can direct people, social activity and ultimately more dollars into the downtown! Active transportation is a key part of our city's future, not just environmentally. I am tired of seeing stalling and foot dragging on this--complete our bikeway plan intact now!Flag

Name: Chris Harrington on Jun 2, 2010Comments: I use Sherbrook street for commuting to work every day. I strongly support a bike lane be created. Cycling on Sherbrook in rush hour is a dangerous activity. Please foster bike commuting by establishing a bike lane on Sherbrook from the Maryland Bridge to Logan. We also need on on Maryland for the commute home! I thank you and my kids thank you.Flag

Name: Bob Fenton on Jun 3, 2010Comments: I am an Occupational Therapist who works at Health Sciences Centre. I cycle to work from April to late October and travel from Crescentwood to HSC along Sherbrook. The road is generally in bad shape along the kerb side and narrows at Ellice giving bikes less space to travel. I hope that you will support the bike lane as to not complete it to Cumberland would be a waste and usless. A bit like the lane ? on the Sherbrook Bridge that ends as you cross the bridge. Yours Bob FentonFlag

Name: Matthew Gemmel on Jun 3, 2010Comments: Incomplete AT routes are hardly better than having no AT infrastructure at all. If we are going to invest in AT, let's do it right. Sherbrook is a very important route in central Winnipeg. The many, many people commuting along Sherbrook to the HSC every day deserve a safe and consistent route.Flag

Name: Deb Johnson on Jun 3, 2010Comments: Safer bike routes are definitely needed around this city. Also, the pot holes and chewed up streets especially along the curb are very dangerous for riders. Why can't the city designate the sidewalk on one side of the street into a bike route? The pedestrians can walk on the opposite side. Put up notices indicating so and remove some of the obstructions such as mailboxes, benches, etc. Simple.Flag

Name: Kevin Miller on Jun 3, 2010Comments: By removing the bike lane from a two-block stretch on Sherbrook, the City would be busting a planned AT route. The routes are supposed to form a network. The purpose of the projects is to improve AT in Winnipeg. I thought the idea of public consultations for the 35 AT projects was to improve them or sometimes modify them to meet concerns. It seems there's been a disturbing trend of either removing things that were beneficial for cyclists or making modifications that are detrimental to cyclists.Flag
