This petition has been created in support of plans to renovate the Grand Hotel in Leigh on Sea.  Numerous residents have objected to the plans, for very legitimate reasons.  However, I truly believe that if the proposed owner of the Grand walks away from the project (which he may well do if the licensing application is not granted) then the Grand will continue to fall into disrepair and decay.  Whilst the opening hours may not be to everyone's taste, the plans for the hotel are truly remarkable, and signal the start of great things for our beautiful town.  Please ask yourselves: if you had the choice between a shoddy, badly managed pub which shut at 11, or a 5 star boutique hotel which had the flexibility to offer its guests late night drinking, which would you really choose?

To permit all licensable activities, including the provision of late night refreshment, regulated entertainment comprising of films, indoor sporting events, live music, recorded music, performances of dance or any other similar activity, the provision of entertainment facilities comprising making music and dancing or any other similar activity, the sale and supply of alcohol at the premises on Sunday to Wednesday from 08:00 until 01:00 the following day, Thursday from 08:00 until 02:00 the following day and Friday and Saturday from 08:00 until 02:30 the following day.
