Petition for Support of Christ Church Senior Pastor/Pastoral Staff

91 Signatures Goal: 300

As Paul stated: "Everyone must submit himself/herself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, he/she who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves." Romans 13:1-2

I hereby support our Senior Pastor and our Pastoral Staff

JR Lozano has asked that I post the letter that he sent to the Bishop Huie, Jay Jackson, and SPR. My wife and I have been members of CUMCSL for the past fifteen years. I have never taken the occasion to write anyone in the church leadership. As a whole, we have been happy with the Church and have grown spiritually thanks in large measure to the great Pastoral staff-Dr. Tom Pace, Rev. Morris, Rev. Nelson, and now Rev. Mayhugh & Rev. Morgan. Our children were baptized at CUMCSL and have grown up at the church each attending school at CUMCSL pre-k to Kinder. They are now 15 and 11 years old, active in Sunday school, and the 412 Youth program. We are active with the HUB and are on the leadership team. My son is the head usher for the HUB service and I am a greeter and usher as well. I also am actively involved with the 412 Sunday night program as an adult leader. We have many friends that we have made through the years from attending Christ Church. It is home. I am writing you this letter to let you know that I am full support of Mike & Lisa. My personal opinion is that Mike & Lisa have a great heart and passion for bringing people closer to Christ through the teachings of the Bible. They have fostered an environment that is familial, open, and encouraging. They are true Apostles of Jesus Christ. I respectfully would like to pose a question - Much like the Jews seeking to put Paul on trial for speaking the truth, is it possible that SPR have unfounded and unjust positions with respect to Rev. Mike’s leadership? This is one among many questions I have and many other members have that I have spoken with regarding the SPR. I have not had occasion to meet with the SPR nor understand their chief concerns which is the crux of the matter. It does seem that the SPR and the Pastoral Leadership are at great odds given some of the recent events that have transpired: • Open letter to the congregation regarding Mike’s need for a life coach (questionable action & motive) • The decision to reverse Drew’s appointment. • The decision to remove Lisa from her position. • The movement to remove Mike from his position. With the above noted, I am disheartened with the recent events that have taken place. I respectfully request a comprehensive inspection take place to determine the real truth. I believe we need an open forum in front of the entire congregation so that we may bring out the concerns of the SPR to the forefront and be given the opportunity for rebuttal. Great power is bestowed upon the SPR yet their agenda is not representative of the entire body; there appears to be an unbalance of power with no perceived checks and balances; and possibly the decisions they are making are not in the best interest of God’s greater purpose. I fully support Rev. Mayhugh and Rev. Morgan and believe strongly that they are carrying out God’s work. I respectfully ask that the Methodist Church continue to support them in their current positions. My prayers are with you, the Pastoral Staff at Christ Church, and the SPR. May a determination be made so that the current Pastors at Christ Church are able to boldly and without hindrance preach the kingdom of God and teach the word of our Lord Jesus Christ. Respectfully, J.R. Lozano jrlozano@comcast.net

A great wrong has been done to our ministers and their families and to our church, CUMC. These wrongs must be put right.
