Petition summary and background:

The Barnett Shale and natural gas drilling operations has supported over 100,000 jobs to the people of North Texas.  The economy in North Texas has remained strong and prosperous due to the support of this industry. Cities and counties receive much of their funding from royalties and tax revenues that are generated by the natural gas industry. We, as citizens of North Texas, understand these benefits and believe that the natural gas industry is very important to this area and to our futures.

We, the undersigned, are concerned citizens of North Texas who urge that local governments do not implement burdensome regulations when amending their gas well drilling ordinances.
