As a military wife, it is up to us to keep our careers where we want them. All the military does is promote "portable careers" for spouses. Cosmetology school is one of the number one ways to create that for a spouse. So many wives are hairdressers, nail technicians, and estheticians. Spouses want to give one another business because we relate to eachother. Women are finding ways to have careers and bring in a second income through products like Scentsy, Beachbody, Pampered Chef, Tastefully Simple, Thirty One, and Passion partys, just to name a few. I recieved a letter of rejection from this installation because my services were offered to soldiers and family members at the PX, and I would be competition. The PX also sells, candles, health supplements, food, kitchenware, personal items, and purses. Does that mean that all of these consultants earning a second income on base are competition too? I was told I couldn't run any kind of "salon" out of my home. I was told I WAS authorized give kitchen haircuts and go into any clients home though, not only making in inconvieniant and unprofessional, but the bigger picture is that as a spouse, I am not recieving support in my career by the installation I am living on. I am educated, lisenced, and pay taxes. I am not willing to settle and compromise my passion and career that I have worked so hard to keep during my husbands military career, just because they don't want competition on base. Please join me by signing this petition to raise awareness about how hard the government is making it for military spouses to have the freedom to excersize our talents, passions, and careers.
