The importance of wrap-around services offered at Shelby County Family Safety Center cannot be over-stated. Jointly funded by private donors, city and state contributions, and state investment, the Family Safety Center is a single point of access for women and children who need help to safey leave dangerous home situations. The center coordinates assistance with obtaining restraining orders, developing safety plans, finding shelter, applying for housing and benefits, filing warrants, securing GED and job training, and receiving referrals for a host of additional support services. In Memphis 56% of all violent crime is domestic crime. The Family Safety Center's near-term goal is to serve at least 10% of all domestic violence victims, with 100% of those victims reporting the crime and filing orders of protection when applicable.
