Comments: This was an extremely sad tragic accident and should be seen that way, instead a poor innocent man who was out at work is now suffering unjustly!

Comments: As a 22 year old I think it is unacceptable that Georgia's mother has condoned underage drinking & drug use. She has stereo typed all 16 year olds as going out and getting drunk as the "norm", however when I was 16 my parents ensured they knew where I was and had me revising for my GCSE's! I am now studying the criminal justice system and I am bemused at the fact that a girl who has broke the law has resulted in man simply doing his job being sentenced to a custodial sentence!

Comments: Great miscarriage of justice! The parents should take some blame for letting their 16 year old out drinking and taking drugs! If this child was not in this state none of this would have happened!

Comments: Christopher should be freed straight away - bad enough the poor man will have to live with this for the rest of his life. Perhaps the parents or the adult responsible for Georgia that night should be taking a bit more responsibility rather than trying to blame someone else.

Comments: This was a genuine accident & doesnt deserve the sentence passed. Remember guards are under pressure from their rail employers to run trains on time. What would the outcry be if the train was late !!! The public has responsibilty to themselves for their own safety.

Comments: It is tragic all round. Georgia lost her life but Chris also has suffered. I don't think he deserved a 5 yr jail sentence. I remember Chris from school and was saddened to find out that he is serving a jail sentence.

Comments: This could have happened to any train guard or driver operating DOO on any Friday or Saturday night throughout this country. Sympathies to Georgia Varley's family, but 5 years jail time is overkill (excuse the pun) for what is surely an unintentional act.
