Comments: error of judgement that he will have to live with think that is harsh enough sentence should not be made a scapegoat one factor in a tragedy he is not to blame

Comments: Disgraceful sentence. A judge who allowed himself to be influenced by the emotions of a case, if the victim had been a thirty odd year old bloke Mr. McGee would have never got 5 years. Of course, she was blonde and "pretty" so it must be his fault. Joke of a system.

Comments: this man should at least have his sentence reduced although i feel he should never of gone to jail i believe the lady whos house party she was at who walked away from her at james street station and abandoned her should shoulder the blame for this trggic accident she knew what state georgia was in but still took her to town

Comments: This man should have been given a suspended sentence for this tragic accident for he is a broken man who would obviously not breach it.What an unfair justice system when he is sentenced to five years and two days later we see a lorry driver facing a similar charge sentenced to TWO years for killing a policeman.

Comments: Absolutely disgusted with the outcome. Cannot believe that no one is responsible for their own actions any more. I think the fact that this ever went to trial is beggars belief! I would love to see a public appeal where the opinions of society are taken into account.

Comments: We haven't seen the video only the one picture. undeniably the guard made an error of judgement but it's a difficult call especially on the time sensitive privatised railways. During the Olympics for example, the platforms were a solid wall of people. The guards could have quite rightly refused to go and stayed there all day simply because they would not have been able to see any part of the train let alone anybody falling. This happens all over the country - and the judge would have been the first to complain if a train sits there for hours because of a drunk whether they are 16 or 64.

Comments: My sentiments are echoed in the above, it is unjust to blame Christopher McGee for this tragic accident and the sentence is appalling. What about people who have killed others, drink driving or using their mobiles whilst driving who served no jail time? Justice should be universal.

Comments: I agree, Both sides will suffer the effects of this for a lifetime. Merseyrail now place extra staff on the platform of the underground stations, does this not show they now know it is to much responsibility to put on one person placed at the back of the train?
