Object against the proposed changes to Eldwick school catchment areas (i.e. priority areas), where most of Gilstead has been taken out of the catchment area completely, leaving Gilstead village with no alternative school within walking distance. Support the merging of the existing priority areas, into 1 catchment area for the school.

This petition will be sent to Bradford Council on Thursday 31st January 2013, at 10:30pm, to meet the consultation deadline. However, this petition will remain open, and collect additional signatures in case we need to take the matter further with the schools adjudicator.

Updates

January 13, 2013

The feedback regarding the proposed catchment changes highlights a profound concern for the accessibility of our local school. We are currently utilizing these signatures to prepare a formal submission for the council representatives.

The groundswell of support for this cause has surpassed my initial expectations. It is clear that the community is deeply committed to preserving fair access for the children of Gilstead.

What are they thinking?? Keeping kids away from their closest school is just bad planning.

This is going to cause so much traffic on the roads. Just let the village kids go to the village school.

So unfair to the families in Gilstead. We chose our home because of the school catchment. This changes everything for us.

Ridiculous decision. We live here and expect our kids to go to the local school. Not driving across town every morning.
