Petition summary and background:

The Barnett Shale and natural gas drilling operations has supported over 100,000 jobs to the people of North Texas.  

The economy in North Texas has remained strong and prosperous due to the support of this industry. 

Local governments receive much of their funding from royalties and tax revenues that are generated by the natural gas industry.

We, as citizens of Texas, lead the nation on energy issues and understand these benefits and believe that the natural gas industry is very important to this area and to our futures.

We, the undersigned, are concerned residents of Texas who urge officials to promote natural gas drilling in North Texas and avoid implementing obstacles to the development of this clean energy resource.
