This petition is for people who support clinic 217 and it's staff and clients. There is a great deal of ignorance regarding this subject, and the people who have methadone to thank for healthy, stable lives deserve a petition to serve as a reminder to the ignorant few in our community who would see us shuffled to another location in a misguided effort to hide this problem instead of treating it in a controlled, safe environment.. My hope is that those who would see the clinic shut down, may make an effort to learn the truth about this issue and clinic 217 rather than make hurtful, sweeeping and incorrect generalizations! Methadone is not crack, methamphetamine or a recreationational drug that gives its users a euphoric high when prescribed and used as intended.. We are not criminals ,or a burden on taxpayers (methadone clinics are not run by the government and most people who are prescribed the drug pay for it out of pocket or through drug plan coverage like any other prescription drug)..
