Californians won a tremendous victory when we passed a statewide ban on throwaway plastic bags that pollute our communities. In 2015 we won again, passing a statewide ban on plastic microbeads, which infiltrate our waterways, absorb toxins, kill fish, and enter our food chain. This state victory even helped us win a federal ban, signed by President Obama in December. Now we have to stand up for what we won in California. Plastic polluters from outside our state are spending millions of dollars to attack our progress and keep us paying the heavy costs to clean up the waste from billions of throwaway bags. In 2016 we can stand up to the out-of-state polluters who put their profits above our environment, our health, and our communities.
