AMES UK Sport Club have been given 60 days notice of termination of our pool hiring contract by Nuffield Health who manage Whitgift School's sports facilities unless we have achieved or have done a significant amount of work towards achieving ASA SWIM 21 accreditation within this notification period.

The ASA themselves describe this accreditation as follows:- "The swim21 programme for Learn to Swim and School Swimming has been written as a blue print for good practice to help organisations develop".

Having looked at the SWIM21 programme, we at AMES do not feel that we can benefit in anyway from this accreditation as AMES is already run in line with this suggested ASA "Blueprint". Furthermore we also believe that in certain areas we exceed the standard.

AMES feel that we can better use the fee of £1300 +VAT, (which is payable to the ASA on accreditation for a "multi-site" swim school like ourselves and yet again periodically to keep this accreditation current), in developing our staff and keeping our costs down: savings which we can pass on to you, our members. It is worth noting that this accreditation does not concern itself with the quality and methods of teaching used to teach swimming skills to our members.

If you feel you can support us in this stand against Nuffield Health, please feel free to sign up to this petition. Thank you Vicky Panagiotidou Proprietor, AMES UK Sport Club
