What started as a football game to declare an inter-league champion, has evolved to become something larger than Lamar Hunt would have ever imagined when he jokingly proposed the phrase \"Super Bowl\" to then commissioner, Pete Rozelle.
It is a uniquely American event, yet it is celebrated by the entire world. There are few events that transcend space and time (not even the Olympics or religious holidays are celebrated during such a scheduled window). Whether you\'re watching for the enjoyment of the game or the multi-million dollar commercial spots, the Super Bowl is a delicious slice of American unity through diversity exactly what makes this country so great. Due to the traditions that have long since begun, it is time to formally and officially declare Super Bowl Sunday as an American holiday.
