Dear NFL Commissioner, Owners, Players, Etc., The Super Bowl is one of the most celebrated traditions in America. It is the culmination of every NFL season and has become, for most Americans, an event within an event. At restaurants, bars, and households across the nation people gather together to watch a single game. But, there is a problem with this game. And it's a big one that has a simple solution. The problem? The Super Bowl is held on a Sunday. The solution: The Super Bowl should be held on a Saturday. Sure, we accept that the Super Bowl is traditionally held on a Sunday. We know this. We accept it. It's been great for a while. But, the world evolves and as the importance as the Super Bowl (and Super Bowl parties, etc. have become) we ask that you take into consideration the fan and make this change. Some things to Consider: 1. Super Bowl partiers are often forced to leave parties early (catching only part of the game missing some, or the rest, in transit.) because they have to work the next day. 2. There are no other major sports to contend with on that day. It's already Super Bowl weekend. No one dares to compete. 3. There's no fear in people opting out of watching the Super Bowl for other activities. Again, this is the Super Bowl. It's become bigger than football itself. When the commercials themselves are important, people are going to watch. Now, how about the benefits of changing to a Saturday: 1. More people watching. - Whether you like to admit it or not, some people turn the game off because they have to work the next day. These people can now finish the game. 2. More revenue. - Not just for the NFL from more viewers but from increased revenues at grocery stores, restaurants, and bars as people turn their Super Bowl party into an all-night affair. 3. Happy Fans. - One can never under estimate the power of the satisfied fan. Now, as with any fair debate. Let's look at the downside of changing to a Saturday: 1. Loss of traditional "Super Bowl Sunday". As you can see, the benefits far outweigh the costs. Please, for America's sake. We'd like for next year's Super Bowl, in 2012, to be held on a Saturday. Thank you. NFL fans of America
