If there are bars allowed to open why not environments that promote fit, healthy, lifesttylesFlag

How can it be right that in the last bastion of presbyterianism that people can go out and get drunk with all the social problems that that creates, but you cannot take your children swimming on a Sunday Anyone ever read the ECHRFlag

Name: Alex Tearse on May 5, 2008Comments: What are the reasons then Economic Sunday would earn more money than many other days Not wanting to force staff to work on a Sunday Fine, petition the staff, see if there's a taste for it. Voted on already (as was told to me) - yes, two years ago by a different set of councillors. This is a big issue for us as a family with two small children.Flag

With recent reports on health status of children, I am surprised that Councillors are not pushing for 7 day access, to improve the wellbeing of our children through physical activities.Flag

Name: Andrew Sim on May 7, 2008Comments: The sports centre in Stornoway should be open 7 days a week particularly as people are being encouraged to take more exercise to help improve their health. People should not be deprived of the use of a modern sports facility on the only day that some may have available.Flag

Name: Phil Tilley on May 7, 2008Comments: The Western Isles has the highest incidence of heart disease in the UK and international efforts are being made to tackle childood obesity. Access to to the sport centre is central to tackling both these major issues. Sport and sporting activity is critical in imporving health and in saving lives. Name: Karen Mackenzie on May 7, 2008Comments: I think it's an absolute disgrace that every pub in the town is open on the Sabbath and there is not even a leisure centre that you can take your kids. Sunday is one of the only days we can spend together as a family, and as we have very limited facilities within the island I think that it is an individuals decision as to whether they use it or not!!!!!! P.S God gave us all free will to choose A orB, at the end of the day we are answerable to him and not the WIC!!!!!Flag
