508 Peter GreenstockI confess that I struggle with the concept that you can go for a drink, eat out, purchase petrol / goods or catch a plane, yet not access a family orientated sports / leisure facility on a Sunday. Lets face it, a little more exercise would do us all some good.
509 Chris RyanIf we are to be seen to be serious about encouraging more physical activity and a healthy lifestyle on these islands, we have to provide the facilities when it suits the majority of the public and remove artificial barriers.

512 Anders SylvanIt must be the duty of for a normal modern democratic society to provide its citizens with possibilities to able to work for a good healthy care of themselves and thereby lower the cost for the societies health care!

528 Paula GreenstockThe sports centre is a recreational facility providing a health promotional role in the community. Most people work throughout the week and cannot attend the health centre. Given the obesity increase and the fact that the Western Isles has the one of the highest levels of heart disease in the uk. All that can be done, should be done to combat this for the future.

531 Ruairidh MoirAs with sunday ferries its all a matter of choice, I'm sure that the funding provided to CNES for the sports centre was on the provision of seven day opening - that is worth checking out... The council should realise that they are there to represent their constituents not themselves for a change!!! The windfarm debate is a prime example. Good on Cllr Philip McLean for his blanced and considered viewpoint!
532 Adrian KayThe overall health of people living in the Western Isles is poor. This would not only provide desperately needed facilities, but also improve the quality of life for those individuals and families whose opportunitites for sport and recreation are limited. Also, I feel that denying me access to recreation on another's religious views is violating my human rights.

539 AnonymousThe sooner the better.
540 Norman MacLeanThe anomalous position in which the Comhairle has placed itself is ludicrous in the extreme and will attract the ribald amusement of the rest of the Country, doing nothing for the reputation of the Western Isles. This deferring to Presbyterian Ayatollahs seems detrimental to basic Human Rights.

542 AnonymousThese facilities should be open 7 days per week. Give those who work all week a chance to stay healthy- this is a human right. If you want to stay at home, be still and ill and stay away.

549 Gareth DaviesWe'll return to the dark ages soon enough when the oil runs out. Why act as if we are there already? OPEN THE POOL!! The island has more surface water than any other place in the UK so why deny our kids the chance to learn to swim and be safe?
