Name: Jim Delbridge on Aug 4, 2009Comments: Bureaucracy gone mad! This marquee provides a brilliant facility for Guernsey and islanders should learn that we live in a limited space and we all have to learn to be more accommodating. Where else in the world would they introduce a law that inhibits a professionally run event taking place because of just a handful of objectionsFlag

Name: Patience Lepp on Aug 4, 2009Comments: Outrageous -what a waste of taxpayers money to fund any further work involved in removing this marquee. Sueco is a fabulous local company who has provided high quality catering for so many fabulous events not to mention consistent employment over nearly thirty years. The number of people against this marquee must be counted on one hand. An absolute disgrace and I am 100 per cent behind Sueco and their staff.Flag

Name: Kate De Menezes on Aug 5, 2009Comments: This marquee provides a facility for so many Islanders and both their private and corporate events. To my knowledge the marquee does not cause any problems to local residents living near by but this refusal of a planning permission could well do with the number of events that have probably been booked already this year with Sueco.Flag

Name: Sophie Gregson on Aug 5, 2009Comments: I am disappointed to read that you have been refused planning permission for the Marquee at Icart. I know that many of my friends have held their weddings at the venue, with huge success. These weddings have brought in a large number of visitors to the island and they have been hugely impressed with the location. It would be a shame if we were unable to provide this location to future brides and grooms. I would like to wish you all the success in your appeal.Flag

Name: Sarah Holland on Aug 5, 2009Comments: We had our wedding at the marquee at Icart earlier this year and had an absolutely wonderful day. The majority of our guests were visitors from the UK, and the stunning views from the marquee have led to several booking return trips to come back and see more of Guernsey. If the marquee had been somewhere in the middle of the island, as the States are proposing, it would not have had nearly the same impact on all of our UK guests. Having a function venue in such a stunning spot can only boost Guernsey tourism, which is surely something the States should be focusing onFlag

Name: Rob Habin on Aug 5, 2009Comments: This is another example of beaurocracy gone mad. Sueco is one of the few caterers within Guernsey who can provide first class food at a stunning location, which is not your typical hotel gardens, hotel function suite or within an urban area (that some of us wish to avoid at all costs). Having attended one wedding at this location I would simply call it exquisite, and denying the opportunity to use this site to any potential customers, whether corporate or personal, can only be detrimental to the local community but also any visiting guests. If the impact to the nearby residents is minimal as described, and they are not against this site to be continued to be used as it has for the past six years, then what is the problem I suspect that it is yet another case of following the law to the letter and not using any common sense, which unfortunately is happening far too frequently in this island. I suggest that the law be changed so that more forward thinking companies, like Sueco, can use their imagination and showcase the stunning scenery that Guernsey has to offer, whilst having minimal effect on the environment, the nearby community, and the scenery.Flag

Name: Neil Archer on Aug 5, 2009Comments: Give these guys a break ! They provide a service second to none locally - are committed to the island - (and I hasten to add have trained up some of the best local talent in the catering industry). We (as an island) need to wake up to modern times and realise that while agriculture and horticulture still provide an important part of the local economy, they will never use the amount of land allocated in previous planning ever again. Please be realistic and give this application some further consideration.Flag
