The Wrexham Independant Group on Wrexham council did not support the massise rise in  subsidised school bus fares agreed by Wrexham council. The current fare is £1.10 return or £0.55 for a single journey. The new Labour and Democratic Independant Alliance agreed on 11th December that fares will increase to £1.70 per day from April 2013 which is a 55% increase and will mean that parents will face an extra £115.00 pounds a year to find. The Wrexham Independant Group say this is too much all at once and an incremental increase would be far more acceptable over a two year period given the current economic situation. The Wrexham Independant Group are also concerned that this is a backward step and will lead pupils not attending school and parents unable to get out of povety at a time when money is already tight. Below is a list of the buses the council are set to increase and the locations: Queensway – Ysgol Clywedog, Wrexham. Cefn Mawr – Ysgol Rhiwabon, Ruabon. Holt, Rossett – Darland School, Rossett.
