Comments: As a student at the University of Kansas, I have heard many students voice their concern about this development. It's time that the city listened to us and stopped this thing from being built

Comments: Not only should the Oread in not be built but think of the history and traditions that are being torn down and sacraficed in order to do so.

Comments: The proposed development is out of context with the existing structure of the neighborhood. It would change both the look and feel of the area and thus have an adverse affect on the surrounding community.

Comments: Lawrence is one of the few cities I've ever been in that has managed to retain a downtown area that is both historic and successful economically. The neighborhoods surrounding the downtown and campus areas reflect this and this establishment would be a direct threat to the atmosphere which many have struggled to keep.

Comments: Building the Oread Inn would destroy buildings that have are a KU tradition. It would also being something that would not directly benefit the students of University of Kansas

Comments: The hotel would completely change the dynamic of student life in the area. It is wiping out establishments frequented by students. Why does Lawrence need a hotel in this location And why does the city of Lawrence need to help foot the bill

Comments: This is ridiculous. I don't object to development, but there is such a thing development that enhances the character and culture of the neighborhood. This would be the converse to that approach.

Comments: I do not think that the current Oread Development plan, as proposed, will contribute meaningful benefits to the city of Lawrence. I have my doubts about the ability of the new hotel to attract enough revenue to counteract the many damages that its presence would inflict upon the surrounding community. I am not opposed to commercial development in this area, but I believe that it should be done in an intelligent manner, with long-term goals of future Lawrence development in mind.

Comments: First, this is a horrible location to place a hotel; that part of the hill is perilous enough for drivers as it is, adding more traffic would not only not inconvenience the people that live in that area, but also disrupt University students and KU on Wheels. Second, this hotel would be in competition with The Eldridge, which not only has significant historical value, but is a unique fixture in the city of Lawrence. Finally, if taxpayers must fork over $10 million dollars for road repairs, it should be used on roads that have heavier traffic and are in more dire need of repair; for instance, 19th Street between Mass. and Naismith. Let's put neighbors before developers, shall we

Comments: Part of the great part about being a student at the University of Kansas is the great culture and history that fills the city. A large development like this would tear apart the culture that students come from around the country to experience.

Comments: As a 4th generation student I have discussed the proposal with my parents and grandparents, and nobody likes the idea. I do agree that road renovations need to be made but the Oread Inn is not the answer for the corner. I'm not sure what that answer is but I would love to see an alternative.
