The school board officially approved the return to the seven period day schedule. We will monitor the implementation phase to ensure the transition remains consistent with our original proposal.
We, the undersigned students of the SMUHSD feel that the seven period day is necessary to ensure not only the quality of education within the district, but the quality of the high school experience. The seven period day allows for us as students to achieve academic growth in the form of additional courses and personal growth through the varied visual and performing arts. Without the seven period day, such pursuits would become significantly harder, not only because of scheduling difficulties, but the ever changing face of graduation and college admission requirements. We as students believe that the seven period day is contingent to ensure the standard of excellence that we have so far enjoyed.
The administration has acknowledged the volume of this petition and requested a formal meeting to discuss scheduling logistics. I am preparing a data brief detailing how a seven period day impacts current graduation requirements for our formal presentation.
